Slaven Bilic inherited quite a strong squad at West Brom.
Ok, it needed a bit of remodelling after the departures of Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez, but the foundations were there for the Baggies to make a real go of it this season.
Indeed, the Baggies had the likes of Kyle Bartley, Sam Johnstone, Ahmed Hegazi and Nathan Ferguson all at the club when Bilic arrived, as well as two former England internationals in the shape of Jake Livermore and Kieran Gibbs.
While Livermore has been fantastic for the Baggies this term, being touted as one of Albion’s players of the season, Gibbs has been nothing short of a disappointment for Bilic.
Ok, Gibbs has been injured for a lot of this season, but fitness and durability are qualities in themselves, and it seems as though the left-back doesn’t have them.

Even when he has been fit he’s not always been the Baggies’ first-choice left-back, and you can understand why.
Albion are the Championship’s dominant force this season, but they’ve only kept one clean sheet in the 10 games Gibbs has appeared in, and that isn’t a coincidence.
The defender has averaged just 1.1 tackles per game, and that simply isn’t good enough for a full-back playing for a team pushing for promotion.
Going forward he’s not offered all that much either, with just 0.3 crosses per game.
Unfortunately, Luke Dowling’s decision this summer should be quite obvious – Gibbs should leave The Hawthorns.
With the huge windfall that awaits the Baggies upon promotion to the Premier League, bringing in a new full-back shouldn’t be too big of a problem, and that should be one of their main priorities as well as shifting their sixth-highest earner.
The Midlands club have to be ruthless with the 30-year-old this summer.
In other news, West Brom should sell this player.
