Moyes admits "time running out" for incomings

Although arrivals such as Thierno Barry and Adam Aznou stand out as impressive, it’s not exactly been the statement summer that Everton had in mind as they prepare to start a new era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Earlier reports revealed that Friedkin have as much as £150m to spend on incomings this summer, but so far the Toffees have failed to get a number of top targets over the line – as David Moyes admitted.

Names such as Douglas Luiz and Manchester City’s James McAtee both sit near the top of Everton’s wishlist, but competition elsewhere may yet deal them a frustration blow as the Premier League campaign draws near.

Moyes will be keen to see some movement on that front in the coming weeks, especially in time for the Premier League to get underway, and Everton could yet turn to some alternative options as a result.

Everton enter Gabriel Sara race

According to Caught Offside, Everton have now entered the race to sign Gabriel Sara from Galatasaray this summer. Whilst Aston Villa are currently the frontrunners for the midfielder’s signature, Everton, Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are all also lurking.

The door could yet swing open for any one of those clubs too, with Villa valuing Sara at just €20m (£17m) and, therefore, well below the €40m (£35m) price tag set by Galatasaray.

Described as “gifted” by analyst Ben Mattinson during his Norwich City says, Sara has deserved a place in the Premier League for some time now and move to Everton could be the perfect fit.

The Toffees, meanwhile, certainly need a player in his attacking midfield role as their chase to sign McAtee threatens to end in failure.
