Alexander-Arnold's departure announcement last week has not gone down well with Liverpool fans, as the England international closes in on a move to Real Madrid as a free agent this summer. Slot had already revealed that Conor Bradley will be taking over as the starter for Liverpool next season. While it was expected that Alexander-Arnold may not start again for Liverpool, Slot has now claimed that the 26-year-old may be in the starting XI if needed.
WHAT SLOT SAID
Speaking to the media, Slot said: “The thing I consider is I want to win a game of football and if we think we can win this one with Trent, I owe it to his team-mates, to the fans because they hired me, to win as many games of football as possible. And if I think there's a better chance of winning with Trent, then I will (pick him).
“If I think it's a distraction or whatever can happen for us not to play a good game of football, then I might, might, might make another decision, but I think Trent showed today why I brought him in because he was very close with a few fantastic crosses for us to win the game.”
WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?
The Reds will continue to enjoy their 20th Premier League title, and when asked about whether Alexander-Arnold's departure would throw cold water on the celebrations. Slot denied the possibility and said: “I don't think there's any possibility whatever can happen that can take the edge off us winning this 20th league title."
