Liverpool have always had a good youth set-up and have brought through some wonderfully gifted players in their history, but their current crop are on another level, according to some at the club.
U-23 manager Michael Beale is one of those who has great faith in those coming through the ranks. According to the Liverpool Echo, Beale believes they’re one of the most talented groups of lads he has worked with.
It is not just he who has recognised the ability of these youngsters, as Liverpool’s first-team manager, Jurgen Klopp, has also rewarded the impressive youngsters.
He has been full of praise for some of them and a lucky few have been picked to play for the first-team a couple of times this season.
Here is a list of THREE who have every chance of making the grade permanently at Liverpool.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Alexander-Arnold is seen as one of the best prospects to come out of Liverpool’s youth set-up in many a year.
The youngster was one of the few who got to play against Spurs in the League Cup victory a couple of weeks ago and he deeply impressed all of those watching at Anfield.
He is composed on the ball and has fantastic passing ability. The only flaw in his game might be his tackling, and he was, arguably, lucky to stay on the pitch against Tottenham for a wild lunge, but all the neutrals were thankful he did.
Kevin Stewart
Stewart is no newcomer to the Liverpool first-team fold.
He has already made 17 appearances and is considered as a reasonably established squad player, frequently making the bench for Liverpool’s Premier League matches.
Despite the fact he is now 23-years-old and already a permanent member of the Liverpool set-up, he is still seen as a player with plenty of potential and a future at the club rather than a settled player.
He will continue in the bracket as ‘one for the future’, but he’ll be hoping to step up and make the grade soon.
Ben Woodburn
Woodburn, on the contrary, is only 17 and despite impressing in some of the pre-season friendlies this summer, he is yet to make an appearance for the senior team under Klopp.
No matter, though, because he is continuing to impress in the U-23s week in, week out and, eventually, if he keeps up the good work, there’s no doubt he’ll get a chance in the Liverpool team.
They love bringing home-grown players through and the Welsh youth international is one of the players that Klopp is surely very hopeful of integrating into the squad at some point.
