Mbappe was born on December 20, 1998, in Bondy, France.
His father, Wilfried Mbappe, was a football coach and later his agent and his mother, Fayza Lamari, was a former handball player who represented France.
He is known to be very close to his family and has said in the past that his father is his biggest inspiration.

Monaco youth academy
Mbappe joined the Bondy youth academy at the age of six. His father Wilfried was one of the sporting directors of the local club and had served them for close to 25 years.
In 2010, at the age of 12, Mbappe headed to the Clairefontaine Academy where he spent three years, before joining Monaco.
